Have Norwich City fans deserted Carrow Road for Old Trafford?
THOUSANDS of you watching last night's triumphant Manchester United win over another north-west club might have been wondering if a few Norwich fans, or even Delia herself, had moved in on Old Trafford.
Instead of amazing away-day trips to the soccer shrines of Stockport, Yeovil and Walsall, and other grounds where Norwich have been banging in goals for fun (and convincing themselves that the big-time beckons again,) could a contingent of Budgie boys and girls have leapt a division and gone straight for the Theatre of Dreams.
Personally, it rather ruined my enjoyment of a cracking match, to see so many green and yellow, Delia-style, scarfs emerging into my cosy lounge thanks to wonders of a high-definition television.
It seemed Canaries were everywhere, possibly chirping about their recent successes, when a victory against Colchester United was treated like a Cup Final Win (apologies NCFC fans you don't know that feeling!)
Then I thought it might Brazilian members of the Red Devils fans club, over in chilly Britain as part of World Cup preparations.
Or, I mused, perhaps it was some kind of protest against the fan-hated Glazer family, owners of Man U?
What interested me was that the green and yellow scarfs were so perfectly and hideously Norwich - and there were so many of them - that something must have changed at Old Trafford.
Most plausible explanation - apart from the possible Norwich link - is that the roots of Manchester United are in a part of Manchester called Newton Heath.
For the local team, which became the Red Devils, wore green and yelllow shirts!
Anyway, another question is whether or not the Canaries are getting a scarf-sales boom ... thanks to Man United.
Tell me what you know.
