http://www.ipswich2006.com/  Go to this site and you will find a list of Pubs and Pictures, old and new.  The Running Buck is there.

Travel [ap] Re: The Running Buck in Ipswich

I am an Ipswich girl and I sure do remember the Running Buck.  We had some fun times there but I heard it went down hill and was closed.

I am live just south of Chicago now, I miss home dreadfully and will be going home in a month or two

I in fact met my wife in Ipswich 40 years ago at the Pasada Bar, and we did go to the running buck occasionally. We have been back many times and

I don't remeber what year, but we heard it burnt down. If you remember it was all wood. I know it's not standing anymore. The Pasada bar is not what it used to be either.

That does not look anything like the original Running Buck. I still believe it burnt down. Can't we check with the Town Hall records?

Re: The Running Buck in Ipswich
The Running Buck also called The Buck and Canes Nighclub.  13 St Margarets Ipswich Suffolk

Built in the 16th century and closed in 1991. Now a church drop-centre.  Nothing in the records to indicate that the building burned down.  Perhaps at some point there may have been a fire but the building is still there but probably not looking anything like it once did.

Wow. This seems to be the string for all 'ex-Ipswichers' who moved to the states. I live in Scottsdale, Arizona. I remember the Buck. I also remember when it was Cinderellas too. Used to date one of the managers. That brings back A LOT of memories.................

Drinks [D] Re: The Running Buck in Ipswich
Yes, I frequented the Running Buck from 1974 to 1976; however, my favorite hangout was the Stable Club in Woodbridge.  I spent many a night downing pint after pint of watney's red.  Certainly would like to hear from others that remember it.

Beer [B] Re: The Running Buck in Ipswich

OMG!!!  I think you hit the nail on the head!!  Seems to be the one common thread that binds us - PUBS!!  Remember how you and all your mates would meet up at one place and go on from one pub to the next :)  Couldn't do it now though!!Beer [B]

Re: The Running Buck in Ipswich

So you folk in the States think that you are a long way from Ipswich.........I live in the depths of Mexico.

I well remember having many beers in The Running Buck and many other Ipswich pubs back in 1964. Yeah, we would get together on a Saturday night and drink around from pub to pub. Anyone recall Cob Toppers? Half pint of Cobnut ale topped up with another half of mild......God I'm drooling. And after all that beer we would ajourn to The Buttermarket and go upstairs to have a plate of Chinese food at the little restaurant opposite The Ancient House.

Another world.

Running buck, and the Royal William, ........................they were good pubs!!

Ipswich has lost its identity now,all the characters have disappeared, the bikers up the railway, royal william and henly cross keys........the punks in the coach and horses........the carribean crew in the blue coat boy..................the football fans in the hare and hounds and the cock&pye......the townies in the bandbox..........lafeettes,olivias,first floor club,cindys.....the characters in the housing estate pubs like the Safe Harbour/flying horse/duke of gloucester/kingfisher/smock/............its a dead town now!!
