Ipswich Town and Joe Royle part ways

Joe Royle has left Ipswich Town in a split that he and the club say is amicable.

What do you think? Has Joe deserted the Blues or is it the right time for him to step aside?

i have been a town fan for many years , joe royal is a quality manager , in football today it is all too common to blame a manager and not the players , kelvin davis , tommy miller both left to join sunderland after we failed in the play-offs and look they will be back at portman road next season .......

in my view get rid of david sheepshanks not the manager , we planned for relegation and suddenly we had no money , where did it go ,

joe royal did a brilliant job with the budget he had its not his fault if all these so called players ( on big money ) dont perform ....

SHEEPSHANKS OUT , NOT ROYAL

Re: Ipswich Town and Joe Royle part ways
I was totally stunned, living in the US I am unable to read the full stories in the papers, but to come back from lunch and see that on the website, was shocking, I don't feel it is a good move, we all know that this year was sub-standard to everybody, fans, players, board and management team, but the team was ripped apart and in a re-building phase, Joe should have stuck around to see it through, the thought of a young guy coming in makes me worried. Names are being thrown out like Mike Newell and Phil Parkinson, they both acheived great things in the lower division, but Newell struggled once his team got into the meat of the season, and made a spectical of himself in the news with rumors of bungs he hd been offered. Let's hope they find a manager with a proven track record there are plenty out there just waiting to get involved again. Go Blues.

its all to plan to see why big joe has left today, after discussing next seasons budget with our dear chairman,he realised that he wasnt going to get the sufficent funds for a push towards the play-offs next season.so come on sheepshanks lets be honest for a change, thats the least town fans deserve.

Re: Ipswich Town and Joe Royle part ways

Regardless of what many think,i think Joe made a right mess of this season. We can,t keep making excuses, the football played was simply not good enough, and the players he bought in were not good enough either. I,m glad he was not given any further funds, because they would of been wasted. We don,t need other clubs discards,we don,t need ex-players either. We need a scout who can grab the better players from the lower leagues, who can actually spot a good footballer in the making, and there are some good players about waiting their chance.

He was bringing players here who have had their better days, and along with his team formations and tactics were woeful to say the least. The performances were shockingly bad and the only thing he tried was to patch it up with panic buying.

The real blame for the demise of this club lies solely on SHEEPSHANKS.(and directors)

He has sat back and watched this club go downhill ever since he allowed Burley  to go on his daft spending spree. The writing was on the wall from that point onwards. (Finidi who?)

This club was very healthy financially untill Sheepshanks got the nod. He has led this club into administration and further decline by poor leadership qualities and sheer lack of judgement.

That excursion in to the premiership caused alot of excitement at the time, and subsequently the clubs downfall. The club will be in an exteded transitional period now i,m sad to say.

Sad [:(] Re: Ipswich Town and Joe Royle part ways
I am  not convinced that the Town supporters have been given all the facts behind Joe`s  departure have mentioned previously that  the  selection  process for a new manager  was a complete  shambles and that there was a hidden agenda somewhere along the line. Its seems inconceivable to me that none of the numerous names mentioned were good enough to manage Town. I think they went for a cheap option. No disrespect to Jim Magilton whom I respect immensely as both a player and a gentleman, but surely experience should have been a key factor in Town`s decision. Before the season started and having seen the fixture list I doubted that we would get a point let alone a win from the first five matches. Seems I`m on the right track. Good luck anyway Jim prove me wrong and I will be delighted!
