Hundreds of people are taking part in the Evening Star and Team Ipswich's Walk To The Moon Challenge.
The challenge is aimed at helping people getting fit by walking more - and with all our steps added together we hope to cover the distance to the Moon.
This forum is for people taking part in the share tips and gossip about their walk - and for those not taking part to shout on their encouragement.
You can find out more about the challenge on the dedicated site at http://www.eveningstar.co.uk/walktothemoon

Ok, so who reached the distance of the moon??
This was your challenge before the end of summer 2006, but I cannot find anything that speaks of the completion. Did you all put the miles in. Were your ambitions fulfilled? I am new here and I may not have spent enough time looking, but as a newcomer, I am intrigued as to what happened and why I cannot find any follow up reporting amongst the threads to speak of the finale.
How about it then???

The silence, and absence of any response seems to suggest that no one else knows rthe answers. Was there no one who actually took part in the walk. Surely they would have the answers. Or is the walk still progressing?? .... .... now, this seems to remind me of a story of a man by the name of Oats (forget the 1st name) who was with Scott in the antartic. He made a declaration to his friends that he was just gouing out for a walk.............. and never returned!!!! Any one out there who did return??

Mary, I know Dunfermline very well. I am in Lochgelly, which is half way between Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. If you come from these parts you will know of course that Lochgelly is the centre of the universe. It must be, cos as you come into Lochgelly there is a sign which says "To the centre"! ... lol
So, you have been lost for many years, want to tell me more?? How long is it since you left Fife? Am I right in assuming you are in Suffolk now? If you have read my other posts you will be aware that I have not always been in Fife.

Mary, after all this time with not a word of response, I think it is safe to say, sadly, that our leader has forgotten you. So, I guess we had best organise a search party ourselves!! So, who do you know who might also have been lost on this momentuos walk of the century?

I started the forum off but I'm not taking blame for the Walk to the Moon itself!
We're currently about three-quarters of the way there - you can follow progress on the Walk to the Moon webpages.
We had hoped to make it all the way by the autumn, but it's taken a little longer than we hoped - and I'm not sure the weather is quite right for long strolls at the moment...

i have invested in a treadmill for the not so good dark evenings and very cold wet days so that all of the people in our house have no excuse to not do the required10,000 steps a day if they haven't achieved it by the time we get home from school. my 7 year old daughter is particulary keen to walk very fast on the treadmill.
i am however having problems with the pedometers i have only 1 left issued fron the eadt and have purchased several more so that we don't loose count however the most recent ones i brought keep resetting. if anyone has any they no longer need or the eadt have any left i would be grateful for donations.
thanks emma

Now Jame, please do not get upset. There is no serious criticism here of any one, it is all in light hearted humour, although it did seem strange to start all these thread off and it took so long for any answers to a question. If there are walkers still out there then lets encourage them, and that seems to have been a resposibility that some one indicated to be important on these threads.
